About Me
My artwork reflects an interest in form and texture, but most of all I am seduced by colour! My current abstract 'Boxes' sets reflect this: simply looking at the balance of colour and the way it produces three dimensional qualities. I now live on the beautiful Suffolk Coast, from which I take a lot of inspiration, especially the heathlands and reedbeds, where light and colour changes every second. I am influenced by Patrick Heron, Barbara Rae, Kandinsky, Bonnard, Howard Hodgkins, Franz Kline and Albert Irvin - amongst many; I use any medium that produces intense, clean colours (including stained glass). The Suffolk coast near Southwold is a long way from Liverpool where I was born and grew up. I attended Liverpool School of Art and West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham (now the University for the Creative Arts), obtaining a BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles and a Post Graduate Diploma in Textile Design .
